Tell Us About Your Favorite Spot

In the spirit of Valentine's Day, a time dedicated to showing appreciation and love, we want to extend that affection to our beautiful planet! We are thrilled to announce a special campaign designed to celebrate the natural world and the places that hold special meaning for you.

We are asking our incredible community of followers and subscribers to participate by submitting a short, creative piece that highlights their favorite natural spot, view, or even the vast ocean. This is your chance to share what makes that specific location so cherished and to inspire others to see the beauty around them.

What We Are Looking For:

A captivating photograph: This photo should visually represent your favorite place, spot, view, or body of water. High-quality images are encouraged!

A written piece: This should be a short, creative work, it can be a poem, a story, or any unique written piece, that articulates your personal connection to the place captured in your photograph. Tell us why it's your favorite, the memories you've made there, or the emotions it evokes.

The Reward:

Selected submissions will be featured prominently on our official blog throughout the month of February! This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your creativity and passion for nature to our community.

The Blue Ridge Mountain Valentine

When I moved to Atlanta ten years ago, I had spent most of my life living next to the ocean. I know this is horrifying for beach lovers, but I honestly didn’t care that much about living in beach towns. Or at least I thought I didn’t.

With its rolling hills and trees, living in Atlanta can almost feel claustrophobic at times and I was shocked by how much I actually missed living near the water. But then, during my first fall in Atlanta, I went apple picking in Blue Ridge, and I instantly fell in love with the North Georgia mountains. And a big part of that love? The water that runs through it.

I took this picture of the Toccoa River during a last-minute weekend birthday trip. The person I was with was definitely not my lifelong valentine but I’ll always have true love with the mountains and the rivers of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Golden Hour Gaze

This is the view from my old apartment in Osaka, Japan. It was a really small place, and I had to climb the stairs to the third floor every day, but I loved it there! Especially at sunset the golden hour was amazing from my tiny balcony. I usually feel like the view in the sky in Japan is smaller compared to the U.S. and kind of suffocating for me because of the buildings, but this view from my room felt so open and magnificent. It reminded me of the Muir Beach Overlook Loop Trail in California.

Savannah River Dreams

The Savannah River is my favorite spot to find peace. I can look out at the water for hours and be completely content. Walking down River Street in Savannah, Georgia feels rich and inviting, with hospitality and historic energy flowing all around. To me, it feels like I’ve stepped into a different, more peaceful and modest time compared to the busy lifestyle I’m used to. It makes me slow down, live in the moment, and appreciate the little things in life.

The riverboat cruises offer a more romantic atmosphere, with dinner, lighting, and beautiful scenery. If you look over the balcony, you can even see marine animals swimming alongside the boat. It’s so beautiful. Once the sun goes down, the city lights twinkle over the water, creating a shimmer that can make almost anyone pause and appreciate the beauty of the Savannah River.

Canberra Tree, Love Affair..

By Kay. K

This tree is in my front yard. You can see it from every front facing room and it’s gotten so big you can see it from the back yard too. You can even see it from halfway down the street. In the winter it looks calm and peaceful with its bare branches, in the spring it grows these neon green leaves that burn your eyes from their brightness, in the summer they turn into a dark green canopy of shade and in the autumn they turn dark red. This photo was taken on April 25th when the tree is at its most beautiful. The top turning the vivid dark red color that its botanical name of Claret Ash promises, the middle section with it’s opaque green and yellow looking like a giant gummy candy and the bottom still the dark green of summer. This is my favorite spot, every time I see it I know I’m home.
